Il avait bien préparé son affaire ! Quel final... En attaquant à 17km de l'arrivée Julian Alaphilippe (France) a réussi à terminer le travail d'une équipe de France omniprésente sur les 70 derniers kilomètres. L'Auvergnat a résisté au retour des favoris et franchi la ligne d'arrivée en champion du Monde. Derrière, le Belge Wout Van Aert est second et le Suisse Marc Hirschi est troisième.
