Amstel Gold Race: encore Gasparotto / Coquard et Barguil placés

L'Italien Enrico Gasparotto s'impose ce dimanche sur la 51e édition de l'Amstel Gold Race. Sorti dans le Cauberg avec Michael Valgren (Tinkoff), le coureur de Wanty-Groupe Gobert a ensuite battu le jeune danois au sprint. C'est son 2e bouquet dans cette épreuve après son succès 2012. Dommage pour Coquard qui finit 4e à seulement 4 secondes... Quant à Warren Barguil, il est 15e à moins de 10 secondes: il est dans le coup !

 

Les derniers rescapés de l'échappée dite matinale (Bono, De Vreese, Howes, Montaguti et Warbasse) ont été repris à une quinzaine de kilomètres de Valkenburg. Mais les favoris n'ont pas réussi à faire la différence. L'Italien a fait la décision dans la dernière ascension du Cauberg, à 2400m de la ligne, quand Tim Wellens, qui avait attaqué dans le Bemelerberg a été repris. Le coureur de Wanty Groupe Gobert a été seulement rejoint par Valgren en haut de la dernière bosse.

Ce dimanche, les ténors n'étaient pas à la fête puisque Sonny Colbrelli (Bardiani - CSF) finit 3e et n'appartient pas non plus à une équipe du World-Tour. A noter que Enrico Gasparotto a franchi la ligne en rendant hommage à Antoine Demoitié, son équipier décédé.
